Kalyves is a beautiful seaside resort half an hour east of the city of Chania. It is also one of the main administrative centers for the whole region of Apokoronas with all sorts of amenities, banks, and government agencies like postal service, ΚΕΠ etc spread around the center of the village. This lovely village is built along the coast that is split into two main bodies by River Xydas. The building boom that has lasted for more than 30 years in the region has increased the number of permanent residents to about 1500 people and has made Kalyves completely self-reliant. You can find just about everything in Kaalyves these days.
